SharePoint ist eine Software der Kategorie Groupware von Microsoft. Die Gruppenarbeit wird in sog. "Sites" (oft auch Teamsites genannt) unterstützt. Da SharePoint bis zur Version 2010 nur rudimentäre soziale Funktionen anbot, wurde in vielen Fälen Newsgator ergänzend eingesetzt. SharePoint kann auf eigenen Servern oder in der Cloud (z.B. Office 365) betrieben werden.
